Summary
This was my first fan fic I ever attempted and while I felt it started out good, the middle was messy so this is an updated and alternate ending.
Bob Is quite and unassuming to the Daggers when they first meet but after he opens up to Phoenix just before the big Mish, They fall in and develop a close friendship.
She peels back the layers to discover a man that has many talents and is full of potential but his ex left him with a confidence problem.
She has her own hurts despite being a top notch pilot and coming from a wealthy family but as they go on, Bob softens her heart and she isn’t going to leave her backseater and close friend without a dance partner because just like her, the boy can dance. They find a rhythm on the ground that turns heads and proves that opposites can attract. They dance and fly their way to an interesting love story.
The mid part of the story will now be more about them falling for each other while he slowly loses his innocence in small parts but she is loving his honesty, gentle ways, and the respect he gives. They are different but they see it as a blessing and not a curse.
The other Daggers are also going to be present as well this time around. -

It appears as if BobNix had a scene following their crash at the hospital but it was cut.
I feel like so much could have been done her. we could have seen them interact in a bigger way together and its a bum deal we never got to see it.I am going to insert my own 'Reality' so feel free to have a read of my version of what went down.
BobNix will have an open ended relationship status of my story this time but, they could totally go either way so finish the story as you wish.
This is also a passion project to show that guys and Gals can be the best of friends without it getting romantic.
I have been gifted with such a friend and while we started out as coworkers, She's now like the little sister I never had and I love her to pieces.
the first two chapters are now complete but i will finish this out later as i have time.

Summary
Bob is a single Father after his late Wife was killed by a drunk driver.
Mav and the Admirals know about his personal life but few "Wizzo's" are as qualified for this secret mission yet they respected his wishes to keep it from the others.
Phoenix finds out after the bird strike and while she's angry at first, it quickly subsides as he tells her everything. She already liked working with him because he's professional, dedicated, and fiercely loyal just like her but now, she gets to see the real "Bob" and his callsign just might actually stand for "Best of the Best" afterall.
They become fast friends on the deck while also trusting each other which leads to a mutual attraction that neither saw coming and they move fast on the ground as well.
They bond over dance, running, family values and also trying to make each other tap in martial arts.
Nix also forms a special relationship with Bob's Son while carefully earning his Daughters trust.
He shows her that good men aren't a fairy tail and she encourages him to step out on the edge again and balance his faith with a bit of fun.
Sometimes opposites attract and sometimes it's a beautiful thing.

The original Top Gun Script was goin to have Phoenix and Bob not get along ( that would have sucked.)
But I thought damn, I could have some fun with this SOOO…..
I am gonna take a shot here of what that would look like.From the source I found, It seems as though Phoenix was also going to be a bit insecure and seeking the approval of her teammates which is also yucky.
I don’t have much info on Bob so I am going to give him a backstory filled with intense childhood trauma that makes him so quite and awkward which Phoenix hates about him.This story will see them move past their difference's and actually care for each other deeply.

This will be a shorter story I had been playing with for a while now where Phoenix and Bob stay close friends and nothing more but this also follows the old saying “ The quiet ones are freaks.”
