Home doesn’t like you. He doesn’t trust you at all, even after Wally tries to reason with him. Home hates you to the core, so much so he locks you inside to try and scare you off, to try to get you to leave the neighborhood.

My scent.“Pips,” he breathes. “You should’ve told me. I would’ve—I don’t know, I could’ve left, or—”
“You would’ve left?” your voice cracks, raw and low. “I didn’t want you to go.”
Caleb grips the doorframe like it’s the only thing keeping him upright.
“I just… I don’t know what to do. I’m not—” he laughs, bitter and dry, “—I’m not built for this, okay? I’m just a Beta. I’m not supposed to...”
