“Just a short trip along the coast,” Colin replied with an easy smile. “Fresh air, good food—maybe even a little adventure.”
Michael glanced between them, already toying with an idea. A slow, mischievous grin spread across his face as he leaned forward. “You should come with us, Penelope.”
The table fell into a brief, stunned silence. All eyes turned to her. Colin, caught off guard, sat frozen, his fork hovering midair.
Penelope blinked, caught off guard. “Me?”
“Why not?” Michael said, his tone casual but his eyes gleaming. “You could use a break, couldn’t you? And it’d be nice to have some company besides this one.” He gestured at Colin, grinning.
Colin quickly recovered, trying to mask his surprise. “That’s… actually not a bad idea. What do you say, Pen?”
