Three years have passed, and it’s only natural for the conversations to shift from what happened and poor thing, she was so young to your average high school fanfare. But he doesn’t have to like it. Doesn’t have to feel like it’s fair that the world is still spinning and that people are healing even though Yashiro Nene is gone.
In which Nene returns three years after her death, and Hanako has until the end of the rainy season to remind her of the friends she had left behind, the dreams they had spoken of, and a love that had formed under the unlikeliest of circumstances.

Summary
Teru walks briskly through the empty halls, feeling light on his feet. It's not that he was entirely expecting the artist to be there, but he can't help feeling chipper about it all regardless. Nothing has caught his interest quite like this in a long time. Admittedly, it felt nice to distract himself from the daily grind with a cute little mystery, no matter what comes from it.
Just for a little while. He rounds the corner, the last turn he has to make before arriving at his destination. As he nears the door, a figure comes into his peripheral vision, and Teru feels his curiosity pique. He stops short of the window looking into the art room; from there, he has a good view of what's inside.
And what's inside is a brown-haired girl.
It's a supernatural.
--In which Teru becomes a fan of Kamome Academy's mysterious new artist. At least, until he discovers what she was. Why can't anything ever be simple?

He’s amassed whole lifetimes of bad habits, and never has one felt more grievous than the way his lifeless body threatens to rise again after Yashiro launches herself off of him in mortified realization of their compromising position.
A bad habit, thinks Hanako, watching his roommate flee away as he barely resists the urge to give chase. Predator and prey. A body drained dry. I’d take good care of you.
(Or: Five times Hanako is painfully, embarrassingly obvious about being a vampire -- and the one time he doesn't even need to be.)

----Hanako had never specified the time for when she would die. He didn’t seem to know either, other than the fact that it would definitely be this year. What if this is it? She thinks, icy horror stabbing at her heart like the honed blade of a butcher’s knife. What if this was the moment of her death?
Alone…
In an unfamiliar place…
Without Hanako-kun.
Was she going to die without even being able to say goodbye to him? Without even being able to see him one last time? The villagers squabble amongst themselves around her, but their voices seem far away, the sound of her own heart pounding more loudly than a large hand against a drum drowning them out.

Nene has some important realizations in the midst of a precarious situation, and Hanako is amazingly stubborn about all of them. (Post Chapter 67 fic)
