It wasn't home, not really, home was sometimes scary and huge, and tall, but it was hers and Hella knew she would fight through the Abyss if it meant nobody would hurt her again.
"What is it, Ninety-Nine? Don't tell me you're hungry again. We can go bully those vending machines again for some more food," The shorter girl snickered, her lavender hair framing her devious giggling.
"No. Not that," Ninety-Nine shook her head as she closed her eyes and thought really hard about it. "I like it. I like... saying it. Your name. It’s… like you… adorable.”

The Wards: the Protectorate's rehabilitation program for captured villains. Each new Ward is placed under a hero for one-on-one mentoring, joining the Protectorate upon graduation.
Tattletale, a villain in Brockton Bay, is freshly captured and immediately pushed into the Wards program... under the care of the hero Myriad, a rising star in the Bay.
It was an impulse, one that I probably shouldn’t have indulged in, and yet the thought of strangers, of an unknown, leaving these scars on Lisa’s body made me bite down, strong enough to leave a mark.

“Actually, I do.” Was Weaver’s only reply.
The hero loomed over her. Those yellow lenses studied her closely, examining her as if she were a piece of meat in the market.
Lisa wet her cracked lips, unable to help the sinking feeling in her gut.
“So…” She said softly. Conversationally. “When’re you planning on handing me over the PRT?”
Weaver didn’t respond.
Lisa swallowed thickly, as the sinking feeling grew. Her breathing quickened, ever so slightly, as a chunk of burning ice nestled itself in her stomach.
“You are planning to hand me over to the authorities… right?” Lisa laughed nervously.
Weaver didn’t move a muscle.
