Summary
“I knew you had a thing for her,” Joker pointed at Zaeed, “worst kept secret on the Normandy.”
It must have been a decent secret, because Shepard had no idea who Zaeed had a thing for. It was strange, too, because they had struck up a hell of a friendship and spent a lot of time together. It wasn’t unusual for Shepard to spend most of her nights down in the cargo hold listening to his stories and enjoying a drink with the older merc.
“You are pretty obvious,” Garrus added, “cultural differences aside, I can smell the pheromones from across the ship.”
“Yeah, laugh it up,” Zaeed looked relaxed despite his secret being so openly discussed, “she’s too busy to notice, and I’m too old and ugly for her to even look at me. It’ll never happen, but it gives me something to think about in the cargo hold.”
“That’s just a Shepard thing,” Joker waved dismissively, “she had Kaiden and Liara falling over her on the SR1 and she had no idea until they told her.”
“As much as I want her, I’m not going to give her anything else to worry about. Shepard needs to save the world, not worry about an old man’s feelings.”
Shepard’s surprise ripped a gasp from her throat before she had a chance to suppress it.

Summary
V, as a rule, didn’t do jobs that required two people. This was for a few reasons that she tried very hard to explain to Dino while he gave her the scope of what needed to be done.
One, there was no real way of knowing how someone would react under pressure until they were under pressure, and that made V nervous.
Two, the only person that she had ever trusted enough to work with had died in another job, so without Jackie, she was purely a solo merc.
Dino had insisted though, and something about him made V smile. With the agreement that she could pick the second person, she took the job.
Once V confirmed that they were stealing from Militech rather than Arasaka, she decided how it would be best to approach Takemura with the idea.

Summary
"Shit,” V whispered, “do something.”
V honestly had been expecting a gun to be drawn, a knife, anything other than Jackie gently tipping her chin up and covering her lips with his.
It was a deliberate kiss, convincing, and it was easy for V to wrap her arms around his shoulders and push herself up onto her toes to kiss him back.
One of Jackie’s hands found her lower back, pulling her in close so any part of her that might have been a target was blocked by his massive form.
He was a clever man, Jackie Welles.

Summary
It was perfect.
The Arch Nazaré was incredible, a mix between a cruiser and a racing bike, the tires weren’t really suited for the sand as he rode back toward the camp, but he managed to pull in next to the Porsche with only a little slipping.
The roar was unmistakable, and the Aldecaldos rushed to see what V had brought.
Saul had been thrilled, whistling as he saw the bike for the first time. Panam had commented on it being a dick magnet, and Mitch…
Well, Mitch had just looked worried.

Summary
The one-year anniversary of losing Johnny at Arasaka Tower had crept up on V almost surprisingly quickly. To be fair, for the first few months he had been distracted with nearly constant medical treatments, practically living with Vik as they had slowly put him back together again.
Once he was well, it was work, desperately trying to get the money together to pay back all the people who had worked so hard on helping him.
Before he knew it, he woke up and it had been a whole year since he had said goodbye to Johnny.
And grief, the vicious beast, ripped free of its cage and swallowed him whole.
