“I was trying to come talk to you all night,” Ayanga says, all in a bit of a rush. He's been in a rush all day - he’d arrived late, rushing over on the last ferry, just in time to catch the last of the buffet and the worst of the groomsmen’s flash mob dance - a throwback to the mid-2010s; Zheng Yunlong had not been impressed - and had immediately been descended upon by a swarm of guests excited by his celebrity.
“You seemed busy,” Zheng Yunlong says. Even now, there’s a hopeful-looking young man watching their interaction, waiting for a pause to insert himself so he can ask Ayanga for a photo.
“It’s just-” Ayanga starts, then shrugs. “Anyway, how have you been? I can’t believe how long it’s been since I last saw you. When - oh, it must have been last year, at least-”
“Three years ago,” Zheng Yunlong tells him gently. Not like he’s counting. “Backstage, at Lao Xiao’s daughter’s play.”
In which SRRX never happened, so Ayanga and Zheng Yunlong reunite at a friend's wedding a few (many) years down the line.
