Summary
When she realizes that the girl isn’t posing any threat, her ramping heartbeat slows down to a more stable rhythm. Only then does Miyeon finally register the two pointed dog ears pinned back against the sable mass of tangled hair, and the white-tipped tail that’s been tucked between the stranger’s legs in an effort to look even smaller than she already is.
“Y-You… Are you…” The words she tries to articulate evade her, leaving Miyeon tongue-tied in shock.
The fraught girl hesitantly lowers her own hands to reveal a meek-looking face. Her hair is still half-covering her features, but Miyeon can discern the ebb of pink lips, a squishy nose, and a prominent cheekbone over a layer of pudge. She still seems terrified in Miyeon’s presence, but her tentative hands reach forward to the wilted jasmine stalk she had dropped and accidentally stomped on during the scramble.
Even though the plant isn’t in the best shape anymore, her muddied fingers clasp around the bruised stem like the flowers mean something important to her. To them, rather.
