Sukuna isn’t sure how long this kid’ll stay, if he’ll adapt, if this was a stupid decision or not.
A month passes and he’s still not sure.
He is sure by now that Yuuji is not like anyone he’s ever met before. It took a few weeks for him to open up, still reeling with his grandfather dying and his village abandoning him, but now he’s bloomed.
He runs around the Malevolent Shrine like it’s his own home. He eats every meal with Sukuna, digs around for bugs in the gardens, periodically brings a smile to Uraume’s face at his hide and seek antics. He’s been breathing life into the death trap Sukuna has fostered for millenia.
He finds he doesn’t mind it much.
Or which, Sukuna takes in kid Yuuji, watches him grow up, then realizes he means a lot more to him than intended.

Sukuna stays silent, just watching the boy. He takes a step closer, reaching down to grab his jaw and take in his features closely, head tilting side to side with cheeks squished.
“I have sired no children so you are not a descendent of mine. But a relative no less it seems. Tell me about the Itadoris.”
Yuuji shuffles on his feet, having already tried to pull his face back to no avail. His words are a bit muffled as he speaks.
“There’s not much. We’re just a normal family. Pink hair has run in our blood since the beginning of the house but it wasn’t until I was born with these marks that people started asking questions. Nothing specific was found but I guess… you’re kind of like my uncle? But like, really old.”
Sukuna rolls his eyes at being called old, letting Yuuji go who rubs at his jaw to soothe the reddening skin.
“It’s no matter. Of what use will you be, hm?”
Or which, Sukuna meets a spitfire nephew he never knew he had and they both learn what it means to orbit.
