There have been talks.
Sirius and Remus seem so close, surely there must be something going on? Except then James Potter comes back.And suddenly everyone is starting to doubt their earlier assumptions when they see him and Sirius interact. Maybe the way Sirius acted before wasn't anything special? It surely doesn’t seem so, compared to this.
Meanwhile James only knows that everyone believes Sirius and Remus are both smitten with each other. Misunderstandings ensue, until James sees the way Remus treats Sirius and decides he will not stand for that.

Summary
“Why not here?” Sirius shrugs, a hint of a smirk curling his mouth. “A drink is a drink, right? It doesn’t matter where you indulge.”
For you, yes, Remus thinks bitingly, fleetingly, but he pushes the thought down. It’s unfair to grouse about Sirius’ preferred poison when he himself can leave this place whenever he wants. Sirius, for his own protection and for Harry’s, is under house arrest, stuck in a building that he seems to hate with every fibre of his being. He can numb the hatred however he likes.
“You’re more comfortable in the kitchen,” Remus says instead. “Aren’t you?”Sirius invites Remus to have a drink with him in Grimmauld's study.
It's not about having a drink. Remus should've known.Or,

Summary
In the aftermath of the prank, Remus decides to get revenge by pretending to be friends with Regulus while James pretends to date him. Regulus on the other hand goes with it for his own selfish purposes.
Sirius however is left to suffer the consequences of not just his friends befriending his little brother but the knowledge that Regulus did it solely because Sirius refuses to bow down to their mother's wishes.
He isn't content to suffer for much longer however and let's face it. Sirius was always better at revenge.

Summary
Whew. Crisis averted.
“Anyways.” James glanced anxiously at his watch. Time was ticking before he was set to meet Regulus, who must have just been let out of his mysterious late night meeting. “I know you want to take the mickey out of me but Pads, I really want to pass this Arithmancy test. Can you wait until later?”
“Hmmm.” Sirius sounded thoughtful. “I suppose so.”
James blew out a breath that Remus knew to be of relief and Sirius probably thought was of shame.
Merlin and Morgana, he was good though. He should start charging James with how many times he’s had to bail him out of these sorts of situations.
Sirius sat back down on the bed while James moved closer to the door. “Oh, James?”
“Yeah, Pads?” James was almost there. Remus was ready to settle back into sleep.
“I suppose I should ask you to tell my brother and his friends hi for me when you get there?” Sirius’s careful neutral, blank tone he had carried throughout the conversation dropped. Suddenly, Remus didn’t feel so good after all.
