Er schenkt mir einen kurzen Blick aus seinen eisblauen Augen. Seine kurzen blonden Haare sind genauso nass wie meine und kleben an seinem Kopf, als hätte er sie mit viel Gel nach hinten gekämmt. Was für ein attraktiver Mann. Er öffnet seine schönen, von der Kälte blassen Lippen. Doch bevor er etwas sagen kann, spricht die Rothaarige und seine Aufmerksamkeit entgleitet mir. Ich könnte ihr ins Gesicht springen, denn jetzt sieht er sie an und nicht mich. Er wird mit ihr sprechen und nicht mit mir.

Diese Arbeit beschreibt die Ereignisse des ersten Buchen (Fourth Wing) aus der Sicht von Ridoc Gamlyn. In dieser Geschichte wird es darum gehen wie Ridoc das erste Jahr am Basgiath War College erlebt und sich in seinen Staffelkameraden Liam Mairi verkuckt.
Die Geschichte beginnt in der Schlange vor dem Viadukt am Einberufungstag, hier lernen Ridoc und Liam sich kennen.
