Summary
Viktor lets out a quiet laugh, though it carries no joy. He feels doomed. “You always were the optimist, Jayce. But optimism does not erase the past. It does not undo what I have done and what I almost did. Just because it did not happen in this world it does not mean that it didn’t happen at all.”
The words hang between them, a challenge and an invitation all at once. Viktor’s chest tightens, his mind a whirlwind of conflicting thoughts and emotions. Inevitably, his eyes land on the fingertip shaped scars that decorate Jayce’s forehead like a circlet, a forever-reminder of Viktor’s actions. The weight of his guilt is not something he can set down so easily, especially with his most recent problem.
“Viktor, you don’t need to–”
“I need some air,” Viktor says abruptly, stepping around Jayce and heading for the door. Jayce doesn’t stop him, though Viktor can feel his gaze lingering as he steps outside.

In which Viktor and Jayce end up somewhere else, healed by the Arcane and given a second chance at life, one that comes with old regrets, lingering love and an unexpected complication. A pity they're both too emotionally constipated to sort it out just yet.

Viktor knew how he looked. With his sharp angles and hollowed cheeks and colt-like limbs, he was a serpentine god with all his alabaster beauty.
The nobles whispered about it. The investors watched Viktor move, fascination warring with discomfort. The Council scoffed at the idea of a Zaunite on their board—until they saw him.
Exotic. Enthralling. An exquisite thing to be coveted for themselves.
Viktor had once despised it.
Despised the way they stared, the way their fascination was always tinged with something possessive, as if he were a rare specimen on display. Loathed the murmurs in the Academy halls, the furtive glances that dogged him everywhere he went.
Now?
Now, he used it.
If they should lust after him, they did so at their own peril.
Desire was a fundamental human weakness. A distraction. A vulnerability. And if Jayce Talis was to prove useful, then Viktor would use every weakness he had.

Summary
Viktor, a PhD student alongside his lab partner Jayce, agrees to help a friend with her art portfolio. The catch? Her specialty is boudoir. While he flies across the country to assist his friend, one Jayce Talis can't help but fixate on his friend's weekend activities in California. It isn't because he *likes* Viktor, or anything. It's just because they're best friends, and they always do everything together. Well, everything but this, apparently. Which makes sense, once he learns what boudoir is. Part of him wants to respect Viktor's privacy as his friend, of course. But another part of him, one that he's pushed down unknowingly, definitely wants to see those photographs. Viktor, on the other hand, is fighting for his life to keep the theme of the photography session from his friend and lab partner. Jayce could not know what he was up to, he would lose respect for him.
The photographer has her own ideas up her sleeve on how to get the photographs to Jayce, and push the two oblivious men closer together.

When Viktor finally asks why Jayce stayed behind inside the Anomaly with him, Jayce stares at him as though he’s supremely disappointed by the question— as if Viktor has betrayed his own brilliance by asking something so irredeemably stupid. “How could I not? We’re partners.”
Partners, Jayce calls them. Not for the first time, Viktor wonders: Partners in what?

Summary
Royalty isn’t the greatest, unfortunately. Especially when your story is the same as every other princess in the stories. Though, Jae hadn’t exactly been saved by a knight in shining armor from never ending boredom she had been subjected to. It was obnoxiously stereotypical, but it’s the only glimpse of the real world she had never seen (if you could even call it that).
She spent a majority of her time in the balcony, staring down at the town, pondering what it would be like down there. Though, she could only do that for so long before it started to have no appeal. She still continued to gaze at the town, but now at night. Waiting patiently for something to happen. Something to change. Anything.

But Cross would never do that. The god had given him a home, friends, a new purpose, a second chance at life to prove his worth. In exchange Cross served him, stayed by his side, devoted his life to him in such a manner that it almost could be called worshiping. He was a god, afterall.
Cross knew he would do anything for Nightmare. He’d kill for him, had killed for him, he’d protect him, even die for him. And if that couldn’t be achieved, well, then he’d die with him.
