His arm was pulling back, ready to spring and wrestle the weapon out of the Joker’s hand, ready to put him down, ready to finish this–but there was a sudden loud noise cleaving the air. A low, droning rumble swelling into a deafening roar. The ground vibrated, and a moment later, they were both knocked off their feet when it started swaying, shaking violently, the heavy boxes sliding side to side like toy blocks, the thin walls of the warehouse starting to give, but Batman couldn’t see them collapse; the last thing he saw was little bone-shaped dog treats spilling out of the Joker’s pocket as the man tumbled to the ground, then he felt pinned down, compacted, he went blind, deaf, tasting blood, and then there was black.
A long stretch of black.

For Les Mis Mutant AU week!
Lamarque’s facility for biodynamic youngsters was miles from his parents’ house in Aquitaine, literally on the other side of the country. They said they would visit, but Enjolras doubted they would find the time. He would be able to go home in the school holidays, but he wasn’t sure they would want him around anymore. His father hadn’t even come to drop him off.
Enjolras' voice draws peoples' attention even when he doesn't want it to. Grantaire can only echo what other people say.
