Summary
It might be below freezing in Trenton, but the New Year heats up for Stephanie Plum, in more ways than one. After a steamy encounter with the sexy, but aloof, Ranger, he asks her to come to New York City with him on New Year’s Eve to assist with a personal protection job for Rangeman. When the job turns deadly, Steph finds herself in a rare position, saving Ranger’s life instead of the other way around. The aftermath leads them both to reevaluate their relationship, or lack thereof.
As if Ranger doesn’t complicate her life enough, Steph must also track down George Fortecelli, who failed to appear for his court hearing on a felony arson charge. The case appears on the fast track to a dead end until things really start to heat up, literally. Steph’s Jeep gets toasted in the mall parking lot, then her apartment goes up in flames. Again.
But what is more likely to burn her? Her smoldering feelings for Ranger or the dangerous fire bug out to get her? Babe Fic.

At hearing the amount of money that Derek was actually offering to pay someone for one temporary job, Stiles choked on his noodles and began wheezing for breath as he went into a coughing fit. “Three? Three grand? Three thousand dollars??”
Three thousand dollars would be enough to pay for his rent for the next few months. Or—pay for the upcoming month and give Stiles a chance to buy some of the more advanced books on magical theory that Elder Potter was willing to let Stiles borrow but not keep. Being able to buy his own copies… Stiles’ fingers twitched in almost immediate booklust.
“I’ll do it,” Stiles announced.

In a bar in the middle of nowhere that catered extensively to the supernatural community, it was expected for weird things to happen. She’d seen creatures of every kind pass through, some of them pleasant and others terrifying. She’d seen bar brawls that ended in death and destruction, she’d seen alpha power transfers and pack turf wars. She’d helped her fair amount of strangers and dealt with an overzealous hunter ten years back. She was far from an easily intimidated person.
But there was a shift in the air when the Hales walked into her bar on a Tuesday at the tail end of November.
(Basically a story about how the Hales are family and how Stiles holds them all together.)
