They lose touch and meet again a year later, but everything has changed, except for one thing: the way they feel about each other.
Based on a Nicholas Sparks book/film that I'm going to make you guess.

She used to look softer. Not physically, but in the way people do when they’re known. She went to bed early, hoping for another dream. It didn’t come. Instead, she lay awake, eyes on the ceiling, listening to the steady rhythm of her own breathing. She thought of Lena’s heartbeat. It used to stutter sometimes when Kara leaned too close, when her fingers slipped under fabric or her breath hit skin.
That was the first clue. Long before either of them said it. Long before the lines blurred.
Kara remembered the exact moment she knew. Lena had fallen asleep on her couch, head on Kara’s thigh, one hand curled under her chin. They’d been watching something forgettable. Kara had looked down and thought, I could live like this forever, and then panicked.
Because forever had always been hers. And Lena wasn’t supposed to be.

The DEO relocates Kara to a farmhouse somewhere in the Midwest. Kara's neighbors are dull and nightmare-ish, she's bored out of her skull and the absence of anything meaningful lets her overthink the one thing that's been on her mind for a long time: Lena Luthor.
