Summary
Deep in the Royal Library is a book. A terrible book that is said to send whoever reads it mad. A book so dangerous that it has to be hidden away and secured with chains to prevent it from ever being opened.
A book which has just been accidently checked out by Spike on behalf of Twilight Sparkle.
The Star In Yellow is rising once more, and only Rainbow Dash and Spike can save Twilight before it's too late. Ideas live forever. Ponies do not.
This fic is loosely inspired by the 19th century story 'The King In Yellow'.

After a funeral, Celestia finds herself wondering about what happens after a pony dies. After some research and preparation (with help from Luna), she embarks on a trip to the place nopony has ever returned from. Turns out the afterlife landscape is far from what anypony could have expected.

It's very "of its time" in terms of humor (TF2 references and silly random humor galore. There's even an ASDFMovie link in there.) but if you have a funny bone you'll probably enjoy it. Plus it's got a sweet and heartwarming side with Celestia being a good ruler of her little ponies and some cute sister!princesses moments.

Summary
Of death, there are two things that I believe: that it first comes in the form of a memory, and second that it comes wearing the face of a friend. As for when it comes, I can not say for sure, but I would like to think that when it comes, it parts a sea of angels as they crash and scream around it, to lead us to whatever lies beyond. Whatever that may be.
A Quills and Sofas Contest Entry for Seer's Colorful Characters Contest: Fluttershy. Originally conceived and written in the span of an hour and edited later. Written with input from Vis-a-Viscera, Flashgen, Snow Quill, Seer, SamG, TheLegendaryBillCipher, and Wish, with further suggestions from HapHazred.
