Evan Buckley was out, and proud. He has his first boyfriend, Tommy Kinard. He couldn’t have been more happy. Or at least, that should’ve been the case.
Eddie Diaz has always been able to read his best friend like an open book. Not that Buck made it obvious; Eddie just knew him on a level no one else understood. So when Buck starts changing after getting together with Tommy, Eddie is immediately suspicious. But no one else seems to notice; so what if he’s just making it all up? Maybe he was. or maybe, he just wanted Buck for himself.
But Eddie swears that there is definitely something wrong there.
And he is determined to find out what it is.

Summary
“I don’t want a stranger.” Eddie remembers, firm. “I’m already not enjoying it, I don’t wanna deal with some asshole knothead, too.”
He can just see it now, his body demanding to be filled, his mind hazy and messy, some hulking guy who gets paid to knot poor unmated omegas tied to him for hours. Not to mention a stranger knowing where he lives alone with Christopher. It makes Eddie want to throw up in a way that has nothing to do with the alcohol.
He must say some of this, because Buck is nodding studiously as he carefully makes his way back to the couch. “What about me?”

Summary
He takes Buck's hand, like he has the right, and sees the evidence of Buck's devotion, a love letter written in blood, etched into every fingertip in a fit of desperation, and Eddie is overwhelmed with his love.
The dam that broke as he fought for air no longer exists, and he doesn't know how to exist without shouting wordlessly about his love for Buck with every fiber of his being, with every word he says, every touch, every look, every breath.
He knows he should be worried, he should try to hide it better, because he cannot risk it, cannot risk destroying what they have, but he is too tired, too woozy, too hurt.
So he holds Buck’s hand, and looks into his eyes, that hold all the light of his existence. It feels like standing in the light of his personal sun, wrapped in its warmth.

Christopher, Eddie thought, the panic finally beginning to bleed through the shock.
Buck.
Across the rig, Chimney held an IV line between his teeth while taping down a port in Eddie’s arm. "Eddie, look at me. Keep your eyes on me, man. We’re five minutes out from Harbor. You’re doing great."
Eddie’s lips moved, dry and sluggish. "B... Buck..."
"We called him," Chimney said instantly, his voice softening just a fraction beneath the blare of the siren. "Bobby called him from the bank. He knows, Eddie. He’s meeting us there."
