It's a sickening feeling, evoking such a reaction from her, one he has had the displeasure of becoming more accustomed to in the last year.(or, Percy attends a party at camp. Regrets happen, and Annabeth is involved in more ways than one)

Percy Jackson was the type of guy to meet a girl in an alleyway, get an explanation about the strings connecting people to each other and then… forget her.
Percy Jackson was her soulmate, and she wished that he wasn’t.

Summary
Percy had no choice but to take the job, not least because he was penniless and had been kicked out of school and both of his parents’ places, with nowhere to go. He didn’t know much about it past the fact that he’d be provided room and board for the usual price a lone, working class Omega would be expected to pay with. Nothing new, save for the benefits.
What did come as a surprise and a personal new low for him is the fact that it wasn’t so much a job as it was a… transaction, of sorts.
Or, the one where Percy, a male Omega sex worker, was bought as a birthday present for Annabeth, a young rich female Alpha.

“Annabeth Chase,” the man repeated, as if it meant something more than just a random name. “Isn’t that why you chose this house?”
“Why, on Earth, would I pick a house based on whether or not this Annabeth Chase was my neighbour?” Percy asked.
“To catch the cat!” the man explained, and Percy sincerely laughed.
“What cat?” Percy asked, now wondering if he had drunk something that tasted bad or a bit out of the ordinary. He must have been sleeping, having those weird dreams some people claim have meanings but, in the end, were just a bunch of thoughts squeezed together in a juice jar.
“The one with the key."
OR,
Percy wants a new beginning back where he came from. He moves to New Rome, a quaint neighbourhood in New York, where every single man seems to make a life out of chasing a yellow cat with a key around its neck. Whoever catches it, apparently, won't be denied the prize they all seek: Annabeth Chase's — the most beautiful woman around — hand in marriage.
Percy doesn't get it, and much less wants to engage with such activities or with the mysterious woman. But it's a bit harder when she lives just next doors, and the yellow cat becomes a faithful companion of his.

She’d offered Annabeth a smile and held out a silver necklace. From it, dangling back and forth in the air, was a tear-shaped crystal filled with clear water. Even without knowing what was going on, Annabeth remembered staring at the crystal and the water inside with awe, her heart fluttering, as if realizing the significance of the moment.
“Please,” the woman had told her, “keep him safe for me, okay? No matter what, keep him safe.”
It made no sense, but Annabeth had found that she didn’t need to understand everything to accept the necklace from the woman.
Annabeth had closed her little fingers around the warm crystal. “Okay.”
