Given what had happened in the past, Brian really shouldn’t have been so surprised when the peace had ended and the battle of life or death kicked into high gear once again. Who was he to expect everything to be fine, Tim was after him with a vengeance, and Brian isn’t sure he can survive Tim’s wrath twice. He was going to die, and it would be by Tim’s hand.

A little while after the disaster of Marble Hornets, Tim and Brian were able to reestablish a bond and rekindle their friendship after many months of healing, enjoying a life together as they put their lives back on track and grew further away from those treacherous years. Brian had thought the madness, fear and running were long behind the both of them.
Brian was wrong.

Abby’s only response is “I love you, too, Mike.” And that is that.
But what could this exchange possibly mean from an emotional standpoint of how affection is shown in the Schmidt household.

Summary
Mike had gone to Vanessa with his long kept secret because he knew he could trust her. And he could.
Mike had his doubts at first, obviously you could never be completely certain of things like trust when living in Utah in 2000.
But the conversation with Vanessa went pretty okay, even if there was a tense moment between the two after Mike finally dropped the bombshell and Vanessa suddenly went quiet. But Mike understands soon enough it was less of “Oh, I don’t think we can be friends anymore” and more of processing something she didn’t know before. Mike gets it, so he doesn’t take it personally, moving on to a different topic and that was that.
Until Vanessa shows up knocking at his front door in the middle of the night, absolutely hysterical.
Or
Mike goes to Vanessa and tells her he’s Transgender. A small misunderstanding on Vanessa’s part leaves her a wreak believing she’s a horrible friend for making it seem like she now hated Mike for being himself (She doesn’t and Mike knows. She doesn’t know he knows)
But how on Earth does somebody go to their Trans friend to show that they’re loved and respected? A cake. Cakes are good peace makers.
Vanessa hopes Mike likes chocolate.

Summary
Aunt Jane is shown to be a less than stellar caretaker, forcing her say onto those she can control (her nephew and, by proxy, her niece) and barely giving the time of day to Abby, berating Mike’s very existence every time he breathes in her direction.
Mike knew, even as a late teenager, barely months after a graduation that he didn’t attend because he couldn’t afford a cap and gown, nor could he afford to leave Abby alone in Aunt Jane’s care for too long, that he couldn’t let Abby grow up under the stern, stressful influence of the woman who has always failed to earn the title of good Aunt.
Even after giving up his everything so he could give it to Abby, Mike can’t help but feel like his sister doesn’t want him, she wants a Mom and Dad. And all he can be is a big brother. The self doubt swallows him whole, and he grows feeling like his best simply will never be enough. What could he possibly give to his sister to make up for what they both can’t ever have again?

Such a good crossover fic. Highly recommend checking it out even if you’re not very familiar with Supernatural or House of Wax, the characterization is wonderfully done, the writing is top notch. A very engaging and enrapturing read!
