Summary
Set in an alternate world. AKA no magic

Walburga and Regulus have lived in America for three years. First moved from London due to Walburga's job. After three years Walburga is told to go back to London but Regulus doesn't want to leave and proposes Sirius comes to care for him in America. Walburga agrees and Sirius comes to America where he reunites with his old friends James, Peter, Lily, and Marlene. He also meets Regulus's new friend Remus Lupin who was a friend of James' after Sirius left. The two click almost immediately and form a bond like no other.

Summary
There was a deep ache in the pit of James’ stomach that made him speak, a burn that crawled up his chest, into his throat and out his mouth in a pained tone of voice. “I’m glad you’re not dead.”
Regulus said nothing as he kept his head down, casting his eyes up to regard James through his eyelashes; and there it was again. That look that James recognized from those late nights after a nightmare when he would stand at the mirror in the bathroom and stare numbly at his own reflection.
The dull fog in Regulus’ eyes matched the clouds that would filter into James’ on those nights, and he felt his throat close up yet again as the weight of it all settled onto his shoulders — because Regulus wasn’t glad for it, and James understood.
Regulus seemed to understand at the same moment, looking skeptically between James’ eyes, and though no words were spoken, James couldn’t help feeling dementedly relieved that Regulus could relate. It had been a long time since the shadows had been cast in his mind, filled with a silent wish that he would never utter aloud but always wished someone knew.
That he wished he’d died that night with Lily.

Summary
Here's what happened. James and Lily had died to protect their son. They had done it all for Harry, did everything they could to ensure his safety and happiness. All for Albus to dump him at Petunia's where he was neglected and abused.
Lily had seen it, sort of. The afterlife was weird like that. You could watch your living loved ones but not directly. It wasn't like turning on the telly and watching their lives. It was more of a feeling with flashes of memories. She could feel her son's pain, his confusion, his fear, his hopelessness. Every once in a while she could see him too, locked up in his little cupboard, not bothering to cry because he knew that tears would only bring more pain. She could feel his hunger, his desperation. It was eating her alive... Well... Not alive. That was the problem.
The afterlife was supposed to bring them peace, it was supposed to be their final resting place, but Lily couldn't rest, not when Harry was wasting away in some dark hole and nobody was doing anything to fix it.
She was his mother, and she was going to fix it. And if that ment dragging her husband and their new friend back through the veil to the land of the living, then so be it.
