'Sometimes, it seemed like Stanley, Eddie, and Bill were on the precipice of killing Richie for convincing them to join Home Ec. Bill and Eddie had discussed it a few times but Stan had rolled his eyes and pointed out that they wouldn’t have someone to bring them snack cakes and various candies if Richie was gone, which would be a real tragedy. Then, he’d flicked his eyes to Eddie’s lips and added, “and… you know, some people like him for other things too”, before going back to reading his book (This week his choice of novel was Handmaid’s Tale). Bill asked Eddie what Stan had meant by that and Eddie had told him that he didn’t know, but he knew well enough.'
