Wenlang didn’t look up immediately, letting Gaotu’s words hang in the air. Then, slowly, he leaned back as well, meeting Gaotu’s gaze evenly.“Seems like it,” he said coolly. “Shall we?”
Gaotu shrugged, though his eyes stayed locked on Wenlang. “I’ll go first. I want this to be clear from the start.”
Wenlang raised an eyebrow but remained silent, inviting him to continue.
“First,” Gaotu began, voice steady, “this arrangement stays professional. No one controls my life outside of public obligations.”
Wenlang nodded slowly. “Fair enough. Agreed. And I expect the same. My choices remain mine.”
“Second, we respect each other’s limits. This isn’t a real marriage, and I won’t allow it to become one.”
