Summary
After high school everyone is moving on and living life, but this time it's Mike Wheeler who is falling behind.
Now a two-time college dropout, Mike is barely holding it all together. He has to learn for himself it means to be alive even when he feels like he has nothing left to fight for, and he turns to social media to help. What he doesn't know is that the decision to post his first ever video diary on YouTube will be the thing that changes his life forever. It all starts with a sudden bout of unexpected internet fame and a friend request from a familiar name from his childhood: William Byers.
This work is not tied to canon; set in the 2010s with no Upside Down. A story of loss, love, friendship, acceptance, and finding one's own identity, based loosely on my own personal experience (so be kind).

It's 1987. November 3rd, three days before the anniversary of Will's disappearance.
The world ended, but they survived. Hawkins is finally returning to normal--well, almost.
They still haven't found Vecna yet. They still don't know what the fuck he's planning. Everyone's slowly losing their minds.
And Mike... Mike can feel Will pulling away from him. Something about him has changed, like he's... not himself anymore. None of them are.

Summary
Mike’s had a lifetime of experience pretending to be chill.
From a young age he’s learned that the easiest way to get by in life is by acting completely unaffected by everything. When you grow up in a small, judgmental town with the parents Mike has, it kinda comes with the territory.
So far it’s managed to work pretty well for him; after all, he’s made it through three years of high school with his body and his dignity mostly intact, and he’s got some pretty sick battle scars to prove it.
All of that seems to go out the window whenever it comes to Will.
So Mike does what he does best and tries to keep Will at an arm’s length, to keep him close but not that close, so that Will won’t be able to see through his poorly concealed thoughts and get scared off.
This time it’s different, though.
Things have changed, somehow, for some reason.

Mike has never been a jealous person. In fact, he prides himself on not being easy to read—that is, until Will comes out to him, and suddenly, the thought of him hanging out with other people forces Mike to confront the complicated feelings that he’s been running from before he loses Will for good.

Oh my goodness,” she whispers, her breath caught in her throat as she chokes on a sob. “I’m a… homosexual?”
“That’s it, Michelle! You’ve taken the first step in your true direction! Everyone, let's congratulate Michelle!” The director cheers, and everyone is clapping, but Michelle can’t stop crying.
“I’m a homosexual!” She screams through tears, feeling suffocated as the group embraces her in a hug.

Concerned that their daughter may be lesbian, Michelle’s parents send her to summer camp hoping they can make her straight again, but meeting Willow puts a wrench in their plans.

Willow hummed in surprise. “You haven’t had human blood before?”
Michelle shot her a horrified look. “Of course not!” she shuddered at the thought, like it was completely inconceivable. “I would never want to harm a living human being, and there’s no way I’m digging around for dead ones!”
Willow’s face lit up and her smile stretched impossibly wider as she got an idea. “You can try mine,” she whispered hopefully, the fact that she’d potentially be the first human Michelle drank from sending a warm rush through her body, and she didn’t hate it.
|orWillow learns her girlfriend is a vampire when she finds Michelle in the woods having a “midnight snack”, and she offers to be Michelle’s first taste of human blood.

She was rudely interrupted by a chirp coming from Dustin’s home computer.
“You’ve got mail!”

Dustin grinned at her like the Cheshire cat, spinning his chair around swiftly to check his computer. He glanced over his shoulder at her, still grinning with that stupid look on his face and said, rather calmly considering how crazy he’d been acting about this whole Mike thing:
“You know Willow you should say things like that more often, I like watching the universe prove you wrong”.

The year is 1999 and Dustin Henderson has taken it upon himself to organize a 10 year high school reunion since, you know, with half their graduating class dead or too afraid of this town to ever come back, nobody else really seemed up for the job. And he’d somehow roped Willow into helping him make this happen and tasked her with the toughest job of all, contacting one Mr. Mike Wheeler who had all but dropped off the face of the earth after graduation. New revelations and old confusing feelings are brought back to the surface.
