About twenty feet away, Geralt stops short, caught by the reflection of soft, ethereal firelight upon his bard’s face. There are words that dance among the fireflies, caught in the light breeze.

The words are so soft, so full of love they seem fit to burst outward in a flurry of sparks that will reach upwards to the heavens; hanging amongst the brilliant stars like wishes.

Radovid was a foppish, drunken disgrace, but he was still a damn sight more capable than many of his courtiers liked to think.
He had spent years being educated in the art of war and combat. Although violence didn’t come naturally to him, he had been trained by some of the finest generals on the continent. He could hold his own, particularly against a bardling that had the self preservation skills of a gnat.

Takes place directly after Radovid and Jaskier’s confrontation in season four. Radovid isn’t taking no for an answer!

Summary
"You should leave me," Jaskier mumbles. It takes a second for Geralt to parse out the words, and when he does he feels ice chasing the potion through his veins.
"Stop fucking saying that," Geralt says, and maybe he is angry at Jaskier - not for the injury, never that, but for the idea that Geralt would consider leaving him behind. For thinking even for a second that Jaskier lying abandoned on a battlefield to die is a price Geralt could ever pay.
(In the aftermath of their flight from the Redanian camp in episode 4, Geralt reflects on what he has come dangerously close to losing, and truly chooses what he wants to become.)Bookmarked by JustSlightlyConfused
