A few months after Vox's failed attempt to conquer Heaven and Hell, Angel is granted enough freedom to visit the thriving Hotel every few weeks and whenever Valentino is in a passable mood. It wasn't as often as his friends would have wished for, but it had been enough for him and Husk to start a sort of relationship without the expectation of redemption breathing down their necks. Angel wants to keep his friends safe, Husk wants him to be safe, it all comes crashing down when a mysterious illness that started spreading through the Cannibals turns their afterlives upside down.

Vox's life was stable. Things were actually starting to go his way again. His relationship was stabilizing and he actually got over Alastor. Things weren't supposed to end like this.
