He had dealt with this before. It wasn't anything new, this feeling of helplessness, the way it felt like his whole body was shutting down on him and all he could do was wait it out. He had been going through these little 'fits' for as long as he could remember. Typically he was able to feel them coming along: sudden anxiety, shallow breathing, a feeling of paranoia. It would give him enough time to find a secluded area away from the crowds to simply wait it out--or pass out from hyperventilating.
Whichever came first.
