Summary
There was a soft noise as Ryan seemingly pulled a single playing card out of thin air, clutching it between his index and middle finger. It was an awfully smooth trick that Shane refused to be impressed by.
“What’s that?” Shane asked, watching him scribble something on the card face, an ace of spades.
“The 53rd bicycle, my friend.” He finished writing and held the card out to Shane, Shane took it and looked over the number Ryan had written neatly above the suit. “And that is my personal line, feel free to call at any time. I’m not usually around to pick up but if you leave a message… I’ll see about getting back to you.”
“And what’s this supposed to do for me?” Shane asked, setting the card next to his bank bag.
Ryan smiled at him brazenly, leaning forward to speak candidly like they weren’t the only two living souls in the bar. “I don’t give that number to just anybody.”
“What for, wouldn’t it be better if we part ways and not speak again?”
Ryan tsked like Shane wasn’t reading between the lines, looking him up and down briefly. “It’s because… I think you’re handsome. And I would like to see you again.”

“Used your shower, hope you don’t mind,” came the voice of last night’s trick from the doorway. Shane knew he must’ve looked like a frightened cat, his shoulders went so stiff. He turned to see the man leaning against the door frame, fresh out of the shower. He was wearing Shane’s shirt, the same one he’d worn out last night, as if it couldn’t be made any more obvious. A quick glance at Ryan told him it was very, very obvious.
Or: Ryan discovers Shane's orientation and becomes curious about his own.

“Elliot,” she breathes, and he focuses on her voice. Focuses on the feel of her hand as it lands on his shoulder and grips his deltoid with a nuanced, perfect firmness that only she can manage. She sucks in a breath, searching for the words, only able to land on a general, but necessary, “What the hell happened?”
“Nothing happened, damn it,” he snaps, and it comes out much more venomous than he’d intended as he twists his body in her general direction. He softens some, as her hold on his shoulder lightens up ever-so-slightly, and repeats, “I just needed to see you.”
“Okay,” she says, barely above a whisper, in her best attempt to soothe. “Why don’t you sit? I’m going to get you some water and we can—”
“My marriage is over.”
