Summary
Edward’s attractiveness is clearly some kind of evolutionary thing, meant to draw in his victims. Declan doesn’t really think being drawn in by it means anything except that he’s human. He wouldn’t have an existential crisis over needing eight glasses of water a day, so he isn’t going to have one over this. It makes sense that it’s hard not to look at Edward while he’s around. It even makes sense that sometimes when he isn’t around, Declan gets caught up thinking about some specific and improbable detail of him, like the plane of his cheekbones or the taper of his fingers. Mankind got to the top of the food chain through careful analysis of things that don’t look right.

Family is a concept that Cherie Vasil has enough of a grasp on to manipulate in other people, and that’s about it. But a family reunion with a more renegade brother could do her some good, assuming that is actually him in Brockton Bay.

Cherie gaskeep gateboss girllights her way through the Dallon family drama, ends up forming a genuine human connection or two. Really great characterization for the main four characters! (I thought Alec's development was good, in particular) Butterflying main plot in background. A fun read!

Pretty much flawless! The domesticity and dynamic between all of the HoO characters is fun to read, and Leo is a lovingly, complexly written protagonist here. Probably a flagship Leo/Nico fic- they are a super cute and absolutely believable pairing.

Stunning exploration of the characters of a Falmer child raised out of his own culture, in a world which will never understand him, and the mage who kidnapped him to research the 'subhuman' Falmer race, only to find himself caring for the child and realizing how inadequate he is as a parent. Incredible worldbuilding, character work, prose.
