Summary
I jerk awake to the sound of someone banging on the shop door. What time is it? Is it morning? My head swims, I flail about trying to gain purchase while the rooms spins. Somehow I manage to get to my feet and stumble down the old stairs. The banging continues as I approach the door, each bang sending a pang of pain through my skull.
“Okay! Okay! I’m coming, damn, calm down.” I unlock the door and swing it wide open, staggering a bit. The door assailant pushes past me, and I close the door behind them. “What in the--”
They impatiently unwrap the shawl from around their head, and I’m transfixed by ruby eyes as they give me an appraising look. “Forgive me for the hour… but I will not suffer another sleepless night.”An Arcana retelling.

Drabbles from my first attempt at writing a story. Seemed a waste to let them just sit in my google docs.

Summary
"I hate half things, half heartedness, stupid false situations, inverted feelings, pumped up loves, and hand decorated hates. . . . I want things straight and clear or at least I want to be able to see where they're crooked and confused. Anything else is just nasty and so my life is nasty and I am ashamed of it. And I have an albatross around my neck that I didn't even shoot. I simply don't know how he got there." ~ K. A. Porter, Ship of Fools
An extension reweaving, based largely on Julian and Asra’s routes and my own interest in seeing what happens when one changes genres from visual novel to prose narrative and can utilize a specific protagonist within such a compelling world and concept. I’ve concocted and incorporated backstory, attempted to fill in some perceived plot holes with asphalt, trailed a plotbunny or two into the weeds, and thrown in a couple handfuls of spice here and there.
9/27: Now with a little more Val/Lucio. ;) New material is ch. 26.
