Summary
Diluc was infiltrating one of the Fatui's hideouts when he came across a merman being imprisoned in one of their labs and was being experimented on. The long haired blonde merman looked at him wide eyed in fear before cowering into the corner of the empty tank that was withholding him. " Don't be frightened, I'm going to help you get out." Next thing Aether knew, his glass prison was shattered and he was swept out along with the water onto the floor of the lab.

Summary
Aether was on his way to the Yashiro Commision headquarters to seek out Thoma since the fixer had kindly offered to show him around the place during his rare free time when he overheard two of the Yashiro representative's talking badly about Thoma. Aether then decides to help Thoma hold a housekeeping class to show just how hard Thoma works for the Yashiro Commision to make people appreciate his friend more, but things doesn't always go as planned and he was the one being consoled instead.

He looked up at the towering figure, trying to muster up the pleading eyes that usually made the god cave. Anubis reached down to ruffle his avatar’s hair lovingly, but his expression remained stern. Steven sighed, and looked down at his feet.
“Understood.”

Rather than making a deal with an existing human— avatars are chosen from birth by their respective god. Each god trains and raises them as their own. Anubis had chosen a boy with a soul as bright as the sun, and swore to protect him for eternity. Khonshu had chosen a pair of discordant twins, and swore to mold them into the deadliest avatars on Earth.
Anubis and Khonshu don’t get along. Their avatars are a different story.
