She hears something scraping against a tree, much too close for comfort and Pomni is ripped back out of her thoughts. She could have almost found the situation funny under other circumstances; being hunted by the beast that murdered her friends and stopping to judge the building design.
after a monster destroys the campsite it chases pomni through the forest, it seems endless, though the lit building in the middle of it all might imply otherwise.
