After a very lucky escape, they’re forced to share a room, and of course, a bed, at some hastily organised lodgings. All Alex wants to do is sleep and forget. Greg, however, has some very different plans.
A beat of silence hung just a little too long. Alex looked up, only to be met with a distinctly puzzled look on Greg’s features as he examined his own key beside Alex’s. A single silvery brow lifted as he met Alex’s gaze, turning the keys in his palm to reveal the number eleven, glittering menacingly somehow, engraved on both tags.

Despite the SS Taskmaster's proclivity for running into trouble out here, on the boundaries of recorded space, life rarely deviates from Alex's perfected series of routines. Adjustments are plotted neatly around the medley of lifeforms that populate the ship. When the gruff, disorganised Chief Medical Officer forgets his morning black coffee, Alex has one delivered to the medbay. When their captain has a night of insurmountable insomnia, Alex dims the lights in the bridge by precisely 23%: a number that Greg will appreciate but not comment on. Life, for Alex, is a game of endless rebalancing, always observing and adjusting to keep the SS Taskmaster in a state of efficient, effective equilibrium.
This does mean that, sometimes, he could be accused of going slightly too far.
