Summary
This version of him isn’t supposed to be at this table. He’s supposed to be pushing thirty-nine, with fine lines creasing his skin around his eyes and mouth. He’s supposed to be in the vacation photos pinned to the fridge, supposed to have memories of his son’s high school graduation.
And God, he’s supposed to be out by now, to Buck and to the world.
Instead, he’s still his old self, and this outdated version of him simply should not be here.
He doesn’t fit into this new world.,or the one where Eddie tries to come out to Buck for 20,000 words.

Summary
Buck pulls away, just an inch or two, breathing heavily into Eddie’s open mouth. “What’s—what’s gotten into you, baby?”
Eddie ducks his head, suddenly shy again, and Buck burns with admiration at how soft and delicate he can be, how coy.
“Eddie. Eddie,” Buck says, quiet, so soft. “Hey. Can you look at me?”
With a sigh, Eddie looks up at him, nodding instead of answering.
“You—you want something from me. Right?”

“I’m Eddie,” the stuck-up ghost replies, slowly. “Why aren’t you scared of seeing me?”
Buck tilts his head to the side, “you’re not very scaring.”
“I mean, you’re seeing a gh---you can see me and you’re not freaking out.”
Buck shrugs, “oh. It’s been twenty-six years of this, dude. It would be kind of pathetic if I flipped out every time. Trust me, you’ve been a very polite ghost.”
“What the fuck,” it’s what Eddie says.

The knight too removed his helmet revealing light brown curls, a handsome face covered in longish stubble and a boyish smile with an angel’s kiss birthmark above his eye. Eddie could have sworn that was the most beautiful man he had ever seen. The knight bowed to his competitor and she returned one.Oh, shit that’s Mr. Buckley!” Chris announced. Eddie looked down to his seated son and back to the curly haired knight.
“Your history teacher?” Eddie asked. He remembered hearing about Mr. Buckley all year and how cool of a teacher he was.
“Yeah I heard he was a jouster at a couple renaissance faires I was honestly hoping this was one!” Eddie watched as the tall knight soaked up some of the attention. The knights had brought the horses over to the edge of the arena as the stands started to empty. “Can we say hi?” the teen asked his dad and great aunt.
“I don’t see why not,” Eddie shrugged.
