When the Admiralty sends Thrawn and Eli on a diplomatic errand to the laid back, dream-like, and completely oversexed world of Nalumbe, Thrawn makes an uncharacteristically inappropriate request to his aide: pretend to be bonded sexual partners in order to save them both from the indignity of the Nalumbe's constant overtures.
Only, after a few days, neither of them are sure if they're really pretending anymore.
