I never realized how much I’ve missed you; he doesn’t add out loud.
“Yeah, for sure. We’ll get Fuku-chan and Toudou to come too. Hell, maybe I’ll even be able to convince Kinjou to join us.”
Shinkai’s smile falters for a nanosecond. Catching himself, he falls into his practiced smile and lets his hand slip out of Arakita’s.

Arakita's nose never fails him, and Shinkai aside, something definitely smelled a little off when Fuku-chan was teaching Kinjou how to spin plates at their last little get-together. But he figures they're just having fun, no harm done—at least until Toudou starts pestering him about helping out at some kind of performance Fukutomi is putting on with Kinjou's help.

Summary
One, two, three, four, five, six steps then turn the corner. There's a new scuff on the linoleum over there. Ah, there's the tile with the speckles that look a bit like a hopping rabbit. Time to push through the glass doors. Shinkai has walked this same path so frequently he's memorized the path by staring at the floor. There's no longer much of a need to look up as he goes.
