If I don’t know for sure, I’ll always be afraid. I’ll spend my whole life wondering if I’m actually quirkless or if I’m just a coward. Izuku opened his eyes after the thought. Images flashing through his mind one after another: The doctor’s disappointed face, his mother’s tearful ‘I’m sorry, Izuku’, the burning heat of Kacchan’s palms, and then the cold suffocating weight of the sludge.
He took a step forward, his toes hanging over empty air.
“Please.” He whispered softly. “Please don’t let me be nothing.”
He didn’t jump with a flourish. He simply leaned further, further, further still.

“Red,” Frank vaguely registers himself saying. His chest is suddenly tight with an unbearable panic as he moves back. He drops the vibe and it rolls down on the bed against his knee. “Red, Roch, red, red—”
The world closes in on him.
“Okay, okay,” Ray immediately says. The vibration in the bed beneath Frank’s knees ceases. “You’re okay. We’re stopping. We’re done, yeah? Mikey, do you—”
“Red,” he repeats. He can’t breathe. Fuck, fuck. He can’t breathe. “Red, red, red.”

Frank thought he would be more okay with a scene than he actually was. When he safewords out, he drops a lot harder than he expected. He has to rely on Ray and Mikey to take care of him until he can come back up.

Leaning against the far wall in a leather jacket that’s on its way to becoming a vest and dark hair falling in greasy strands over their eyes is, of course, Gerard.
Ray knew it was Gerard. He knows their voice better than his own. But some small glimmer in his chest had been hoping it was anyone else. Even the cops would be more welcome.
He’s being dramatic, but the sentiment isn’t completely false.
He opens the door.
