Mydei smoothed a few stray strands of white hair back from Khaslana’s face, and watched his troubled expression smooth out. Like this, he looked almost peaceful, as if he was just sleeping in on a weekend. The urge to lean down and press a kiss to his forehead rose like the tide, crashing against the walls of his chest. Not for the first time, he thought, I love you.
Not for the first time, he ruthlessly stuffed it back down into the darkness.
