After he ordered her gross bar food, he tapped the top of the bar in impatient waiting. Stretching his pitching arm he turned to check on his ex’s drunk co-worker, wondering when exactly his life stopped making sense.
In Drew’s defense, he did have control of the situation for the first hour. They sat quietly, Happy staring straight ahead and Drew staring down at his glass. The bartender wouldn’t have known they were there together if it wasn’t Drew who threw crumpled dollar bills down every time Happy grunted out an order...which was often. It wasn’t until Drew tried to make small talk, did his hold on the situation start to crumble.

“Loki,” Mobius mumbles. He can feel his heartbeat slowing, his pulse growing sluggish. His body just feels frozen solid, now, like he’s surpassed cold and descended into a total lack of feeling.
“No, Mobius— Mobius,” Loki says sharply. “Look at me, look at me! Talk to me, stay awake— Mobius. Mobius!”
Loki sounds panicked, frantic, and Mobius wants to help, but he can’t get his head to lift or his eyes to open. He lets them stay shut; it feels like he’s floating in the frozen darkness. It’s nearly peaceful. He can’t even feel the ground beneath him anymore.
“Mobius,” Loki says again. “I’m right here, I won’t leave you. I won’t go anywhere, I’m here.” His cold lips push to Mobius’ cheek, the corner of his mouth.

“You didn’t remember me,” Loki says. His hand comes up, his reach so cautious. His fingertips just barely make contact with Mobius’ shoulder when he exhales, slumping, tension starting to leak out of him.
Mobius leans into the touch, and it deepens, widens. Loki flattens his palm to Mobius’ shoulder, then lets his hand glide up his neck, over his cheek, cupping his face.
“Are you real?” Loki asks, voice shaking. Mobius reaches up and grabs Loki’s wrist in his hand, firm.
“As real as you are,” Mobius tells him.
