“Right now? Super strength,” Eli grumbled, pulling against the restraints holding his arms behind his back. He was bitter that he was chained up while Victor was free, not that either of them was actually free at the moment. “Or maybe quick regeneration. That way, when I get hurt, I could heal instantly.”
“Or you could stop getting hurt so much,” Victor teasingly suggested. He dropped back onto dusty stone ground beside Eli, letting out a deep sigh. They both looked up at the dingy walls surrounding them, only broken up by a short door of metal bars.
“Where do you think we are?” Eli asked.
“Why do you think I know?”
“Because you pretend that you know everything.”

His head snapped to the side with sudden sharpness, his eyes dark and frigid as the ocean at night. Eli could see the sailors drowning in the desolate waves of his pupils, screaming out to god to save them— no one would answer their tiny prayers for their god was a non-believer. A heathen. A heretic who was finally giving Eli every ounce of attention he had been trying to gain during their argument. “You wouldn't want her to see her perfect doll acting defective,” he threatened. “She might just toss you out and buy a new toy.”

Eli lunged. He caught the thing around the waist, wrenching it off of Victor and slamming it into the wall. It made a sound, a strangled childish giggle. The sheriff, to his credit, staggered to his feet and the moment Eli had rolled away from it, unloaded three shots, two into its chest and one into her forehead.
There was no scream, just a choked cough, before it laid limply against the wooden floor.
“Man, what the fuck?” Rusher had lost all his professional pretense. “That’s a fucked up little girl, man.”Victor hadn’t even caught up to what had happened before the next shot rang out. The entity jerked, convulsed, but its body settled motionless. Not a twitch. Not a sound. Just a splay of black blood fanning out beneath its head, already sinking into the hardwood like ink.

Memories came flooding back to Victor: him telling Eli to break up with her if he wanted to get in Victor’s pants, Eli doing so immediately, unquestioningly. He hadn’t considered what that might do to Angie, hadn’t even been thinking about her except in that she’d had a claim to Eli that Victor wanted for himself. In his total focus on Eli, his need to take and keep and own the entire span of Eli’s attention, he hadn’t spared so much as a thought to how Angie might feel on waking up to such a text.

Victor tipped his glass, and finished it. With a graceful gesture, he asked the bartender for another one. “So I’ve heard,” he said. “Begs the question as to why you’re still talking to me.”
Oh believe me, I will soon make you stop talking.
“Maybe I just think you’re pretty,” Eli replied. It was, in part, an attempt at regaining control of the situation, of making his cover believable — lust made people allow all kinds of bad manners, or so Eli had heard — but he was also curious to see how Victor would react.
The man's lips stretched in a smile that could only be described as dangerous. “Now that, I can believe,” he said, the flirtation like the edge of a knife. “But I don’t think you’re the type to care much for pretty things.”
AU: Victor Vale is in the business of pain relief. Eli Ever is in the business of killing EOs. Tonight, specifically, he's quite intent on killing Victor.
