Erzsébet climbs onto the bed and sits next to Madeline, so close that their legs press against each other. "A couple of reasons," she murmurs, like she's trying not to scare her off, "One, because you're so very, very cute. Two, I think it'd be fun. Three, and perhaps most importantly, you're not quite so subtle as you might think, staring at me with those adorable little doe eyes of yours just about every time I've ever been in the same room as you."
Madeline has had a crush on Erzsébet since she met the older woman centuries ago, but knew from the start that it wouldn't amount to anything, especially since it was unlikely that Erzsébet even knew, not to mention her relationship with Roderich. Except Maddie is not as subtle as she thought, and Erszébet wants to see what all that puppy love can do. So long as Roderich can be in the same room.

Feliciano grins, all teeth. “I want to see how well you can do while distracted.”
“Distracted?”
“Distracted,” Feliciano repeats. He uses one finger on Kiku’s chin to draw Kiku’s face toward his own, and he kisses him the way he knows Kiku likes: soft, with the lightest graze of the tongue along his bottom lip.
When he pulls back, he regards Kiku’s flushed face with an air of satisfaction.
“Distracted,” he says again, and he bats his eyelashes for extra effect. -

Summary
Young, unattached, and freshly unemployed, Honda Kiku is the only one in the family really capable of uprooting his life to answer the call when his elderly uncle's health begins to fail - not that he has a choice, given that his father already made the call for him. Burdened with a sense of duty, Kiku picks up and moves across the world to his uncle's home in north Texas, where he sometimes feels like he might have moved to a different planet rather than a different country. Along the way he meets a young and enthusiastic meteorology student (and delivery boy) named Alfred Jones, and finds that though there's a lot he thought he didn't know about his family, there's even more he doesn't know about himself.

Summary
The words are stolen from Feliciano’s lips in a terrific rush of joy, his mouth dropping and tears welling up in his eyes as he comes face to face with the brother he’s spent the past four years of his life searching for. There aren’t words in any language he knows that truly express how thankful he is to see him, knowing that all of his effort wasn’t in vain because Lovino is here and he’s alive--!
Lovino, however, doesn’t seem to share the sentiment.
After being rescued from a crew of corsairs, Feliciano is shocked to discover his missing brother is a member of infamous pirate Captain Fernández's crew -- and while they promise to take him back home to his grandfather, he has a lot of things to learn about Lovino before he makes it back to Genoa.
