Summary
“It looks like a flower,” Jaskier says, amazed by it. He’s always loved finding his lover’s soulmarks, tracing the outlines of them, imagining them on his heel.
“Looks like an onion to me.”
OR
Jaskier’s soulmark was removed at birth. Geralt’s soulmark shouldn’t exist. When Jaskier discovers his witcher hasn’t found his soulmate yet, he makes it his personal mission to find Geralt’s Destiny-ordained beloved.

(in which nezumi is an engineer, shion has secrets, their demons are external and they beat them to death with giant robots)
The volume for the footage was low on the speakers, so when Dragonhide opened its mouth to roar the sound could hardly be heard over the din of the crowd. Nezumi stabbed at his dinner with his spork. “We’re a support base. We’re the last line of defense unless a Kaiju pops up right next to us. You’ll be called in after Tokyo is already drenched in Kaiju Blue. From the looks of it, you won’t have to wait long. Give it a few hours.”
Safu’s face soured. “Always the optimist,” she said, right before the entire canteen began to shout.

Summary
The bard doesn’t seem to notice Geralt lurking behind him until Geralt clears his throat, a low rumble, which makes him turn.
“Goodness,” he says. “Hello. You’re very… loomy.”
Now she’s closer, Ciri can see his face properly. His hair hangs lank around his face; stubble covers his chin, a little too long to be stylish; his eyes above are a bright shining blue. And yet there’s something faded about him, his clothes just slightly worse for wear, his cheeks hollow.
“Jaskier,” Geralt says, almost desperately.
After the mountain, a reunion. It doesn’t go that well, to begin with.

“You don’t have to be sorry.”
(Jaskier has a hard path to walk while he's healing. Geralt and Yennefer help him with this part.)

Summary
The first time it happened, Geralt was alone. Not alone as he once had been. Not alone because he chose to be alone. Alone, because he drove them away. No one would have a man who used ill-gotten wishes and spewed nothing but poisonous barbs from their mouth when you tried to comfort him. Alone, in a tub of water to scald the ache from his muscles, he wondered why it did little to relieve the pain. Why still he ached. Why it coalesced around his lungs like a thorn bush.
And then the coughing started.

Summary
Geralt’s shoulders were stiff, and his grip on Jaskier’s wrist was like a vise. Between them, the bite mark on Jaskier’s forearm still oozed blood. Just a tiny little puncture. He’d gotten worse from stepping on a sharp rock in camp just last week. The dead fox lay three paces off, its head facing away. From this angle Jaskier couldn’t see whether or not he’d imagined the foam at its mouth.
Geralt still wouldn’t look at him.
“Don’t say it,” Jaskier begged one last time.
“It was rabid,” said Geralt flatly.
---
At long last, Jaskier's luck runs out, and he acquires a mortal wound. It's lucky for him, then, that Geralt is far too selfish to let him die.

Summary
"Did you really leave him on that mountain?" Yennefer asks.
Geralt shifts uncomfortably. There's much he regrets about that day. "It was not my finest hour."
Yennefer smiles without any humor. "No. No it was not."
