“What do you mean you’re in the bridal suite?” Buck barks into the phone, pacing up and down the incredibly plush carpeting of this hotel room. “I’m in the fucking bridal suite.”
“Okay, Buck, calm down. What do you mean? We’ve got all the romantic stuff laid out—the strawberries and the chocolate and the champagne—”
“I’ve got the strawberries and the chocolate and the champagne,” Buck whispers, fingers so tight around his phone he thinks he can hear something cracking.
“What?” Maddie asks. “Hmm. Maybe there was a mix-up with the reservations? They’re both under Buckley, so… Do you want me to call the reception?”
Buck sighs. “No, no, of course not, Mads. Sorry, I’ll call them. It’s fine, I’ll just—I’ll get another room, because Eddie’ll be here in a few hours…”
or, having multiple wedding reservations under the same name was an accident waiting to happen and buck’s just trying not to jumpscare his best friend with the rather intense bridal suite decor in their very platonically shared hotel room

Eddie has not stopped talking since they left the restaurant. He thinks that he kind of blacked out during the actual dinner, because he’s not really sure what actually was discussed or how they even ended up sitting next to Buck and Tommy. But as soon as they got back into the truck, it was like the dam breaking loose.
“I mean, it’s so great,” Eddie says once they’re back in his bedroom, as he takes his shirt off in the closet. He’s not even paying attention as Marisol perches on the edge of his bed. “They’re two of my friends, it’s awesome.”
He’s happy for Buck, because Buck deserves to be with someone who gets him and will love him like he deserves. He just . . .
“Is Tommy too tall for him?” Eddie asks. “Like, they’re the same height.”

Athena froze as something hot flooded her belly and rumbled in her chest.

Margaret laughed as she sipped her coffee. “You know, you would’ve expected with Maddie being the girl that she would’ve been the drama queen of the two but Evan always had a---”
It was in that moment that Athena realized that she was going to have to apologize to Buck later on.
She snapped and what little resolve she had on her self-restraint deteriorated away like dry sand in her hand. She'd had enough. She placed her mug down with an audible thunk against the wood of the tabletop.
