Xiao Zhan sipped his drink and looked around the space. There were other groups of people around here, some looked like regulars judging by how comfortably they sat and interacted with the room. Others, like him and his group, were new and curious.
A hush fell over the room. From along its edge, a curtain parted and out came a man, tall, and broad shouldered, not what you'd expect here. Around his narrow hips he wore a single chain adorned with tiny bells and a pair of loose, sheer pants with slits all the way down the sides. He wore nothing else, save for a subtle shimmer on high cheekbones.
A slow drumbeat played and the man started dancing, raising one hip at a time to the beat. His face was blank, his hands stretched out to his sides, nothing else moved except his hips and with each drum beat, a soft tinkle.

“I missed you Yibao,” Xiao Zhan mutters against Yibo’s shoulder, leaving featherlight kisses along its length, “A month is too long to go without seeing you.”

The ball had been underway for about an hour before he caught his first glimpse of her. He was off to the side, chatting with his parents and Astoria, who was preening under all of the attention she had received as the newly announced, future Mrs. Draco Malfoy. Granger was standing across the dancefloor, with her back to him, engaged in conversation with Potter and some higher-up from the Ministry, her wild curls making her instantly recognizable. She was wearing a golden evening dress – like the Gryffindor queen that she was – a Muggle fashion that showcased her curves. Even from behind, without seeing her face, she was practically stopping his heart she was so gorgeous. And then she turned around and he thought his heart might have actually stopped for a moment.
Granger was pregnant.
Granger was noticeably pregnant. Probably around five months pregnant. Which meant that she had been pregnant the night that they had ended things, three months ago. The night that she had confirmed that she was exclusively sleeping with him, and had been exclusive with him for the preceding several years.
