"Stay." His brain is skipping backwards but his mouth is skipping forward. "Like, in this bed? With me."
The words hang in the air, somewhere in between their naked chests. Louis licks his lips, and a tiny crinkle appears between his eyebrows. "Why?"
Does there have to be a reason for everything? Does everything have to be a debate? Why does Louis ask 'why?' and not 'why not?' Harry's already annoyed that he wants him to stay. "I'm ill," he says, sniffling for good measure. "I need supervision."
Louis hesitates, looking uncertain, and Harry doesn't like that look on him. "It's late," he says eventually. "You need your rest."
"We'll sleep," Harry promises, and as if on cue, he yawns. He is rather sleepy. "It will be restful."
SPOILER: Styles gets his way. It's not restful.

"Often?"
"Yes, Christ, Harry," Louis groans. "Probably eight times a week for going on six years now. On average, you know. More when we were touring, less when I've been visiting family. Anything else you'd like to know?"

“Harry! Hey bro, it’s Zayn.”
He’s confused. Zayn is normally not a morning person, often mad at the universe until eleven or so. It’s definitely odd, why is he so cheery? “Why are you in a good mood, it’s eight in the morning, Z.”
Only a laugh is heard through the phone. “I’ve had two Redbulls.”
That explains it. “What can I do for you? I’m trying to get some sleep before I head over to the studio and to my ultimate death.”
“Harry, I swear to God, you are the most dramatic person I know. It’s going to be alright, there’s nothing to worry about. It’s just Lou.”
Just Lou? This is not just Lou. This is Louis fucking Tomlinson-Styles - err, just Tomlinson now - his soulmate and ex-husband. The only person that Harry is meant to be with for the rest of his life. The person he’s supposed to have children with and live an amazing life with. They’re supposed to grow old and grey together. This universe paired them together for a life long journey.
“This isn’t just Lou, Zayn and you know that.”
Or, where Harry and Louis are divorced soulmates who are seeing each other for the first time in two years.

Summary
It’s very unlike Louis to be secretive with Harry. He’s become accustomed to having open communication within their relationship that it makes Harry overthink when things are out of the norm.
“This has only been a week, Harry, you can’t be making assumptions when it’s been just days,” Anne tries to reason with him.
But that’s the thing. It’s only been a week in person, but the weird behavior has been happening for a few weeks before then. Harry would text him when he could while in Japan, and Louis would take long to answer. He’d make the same excuse about being in the studio, but Harry hasn’t known Louis to be there as frequently as he claimed.
Or, where Harry knows Louis is hiding something but he has nothing to worry about.

He watches him as he does it and wishes he had a camera on him, because the sight of Louis’ dainty hand caressing the beautiful L written in intricate cursive right over Harry’s heart has to be the single greatest thing he’s ever seen.
“Like it?” he asks.
“Harry,” Louis repeats, suddenly digging his thumb into the skin as if it was going to disappear at any second—it wasn’t, something Harry’s tattoo artist made sure of. “That’s—that’s permanent.”
“You’re permanent,” Harry replies, simple as can be.
