Summary
Max likes Checo, but doesn’t think Checo likes him. Until he sees that they won a ‘couple goals’ award at a Latin American awards ceremony. As one does, Max comes to the conclusion that he and Checo have been dating all this time and he had not realised because of cultural differences. Feeling bad, he resolves to be the best boyfriend ever from then on.

When he got home he tucked the photos in an old shoebox at the back of his closet and immediately started shopping. He had a dozen tabs open with a giddy smile on his face. He could imagine his baby wearing tons of cute outfits smiling and laughing. He spent at least an hour choosing between which stuffed animal would be the baby’s “first official stuffed animal”. He ended up choosing a soft yellow duck.
He couldn’t wait to welcome his baby into the world. He wanted to make happy memories, smiling and laughing and learning. He knew there would be struggles in parenthood, but if it meant being able to bring a new life into the world, and give an innocent life happiness, he would persevere. He wanted to give his child, his little love, all the happiness he never got.
