Lestat does not have any fondness for people in giant suits pretending to be animals. Or for animatronics, which he finds creepier than he would like to admit, or for large groups of children – to be honest, any children that aren’t Claudia, at least for periods of time longer than a birthday party — and so when Louis had first floated the idea of Disney World, he had been less than enthusiastic.
“But it’s in Florida,” he had said, dismayed.
“Yeah,” Louis had replied, “but Orlando is pretty gay-friendly, and the parks definitely are. ‘Sides, we live in Louisiana, we can’t really talk.”
Lestat had really meant that the humidity would be murder on his hair, but he had allowed Louis to think that homophobia was his primary concern.
The de Pointe du Lac de Lioncourts take Disney World.
(The intense tags are for references to Lestat’s and Louis’s own terrible childhoods: the worst thing that happens in this fic is someone mildly freaking out on a rollercoaster. Guess who.)

Summary
Louis was not mentally prepared to jump head long back into a shared life, a shared space with Lestat immediately after their reunion. No matter how often (or loudly) Lestat insisted he has changed, that it wasn’t safe for Louis to be alone. Their dynamic is too marled, too mangled, still dripping blood from the wounds they left in their wake. He needed time. Not distance, just time.
Which means Lestat has his number. Lestat has his location. Lestat has his calendar and schedule. Lestat expects to know when he comes and when he goes. Louis may dictate the terms of their intimacy, of the physical distance he can put between them, but Lestat is not to be alone. If he texts, Louis responds. If he calls, Louis answers.
