Summary
Alex Claremont-Diaz did not have the kind of adult role models that helped him believe in forever love. His parents argued, fought and eventually had to live in different states.
Alex does not want that kind of relationship. He started out wanting a real partnership. He's tried but he’s never been successful at an emotionally intimate relationship. When he feels himself getting too close to someone, he starts looking for a way out. Too often that leads to sex outside of the relationship he’s supposedly in. His parents, coupled with the turmoil of his emotions, and his relationship history have led Alex to the illogical conclusion that he can not be monogamous.
It is with that background that this AU story finds our boys in an open relationship. If you can’t bear to see Alex and Henry that way, scroll on. If you give it a try, know that it works as well as possible until someone breaks the rules. The story takes place over several years. Included at the beginning of each chapter is a reference to let readers know what the timing is for that part of the story. There isn’t a lot of fluff, but I promise a happy ending.
It’s also a story about friends helping friends see what they are otherwise blind to.
