“I wanna go home.”
It was the same argument they’d been having for the last two weeks, and Weiss felt awful about it every single time, but what choice did she have? Her daughter didn’t understand - she couldn’t; she was six. They couldn’t go back to Atlas, not if she was to have any chance of keeping Wren’s face out of every paper and magazine, from the trashy tabloids all the way to the supposedly “respectable” publications. Sure, Wren hadn’t really had any opportunity to make many friends in Atlas, but moving halfway across the world during the middle of the school year would disrupt any child’s life.
Weiss had made a mistake - just another in a long, long series of them - and now once again her daughter was paying for it.

It was a bad deal, and Weiss knew it. If she “met the boss,” she’d either be working for them forever, or dead. They’d never let her leave. Then again, she wasn’t leaving here, either, and she couldn’t keep this up forever. If these two had found her, Winter would find her, too. Eventually. And then she’d be carted off to be put on display at some sham trial and locked up in another gilded cage, probably given drugs to fix her and make her docile. Her life was over, either way. Only one path had any chance at any sort of agency ever again.
And then there was the simple, irredeemable fact that Jacques Schnee was dead, and Weiss was a murderer.
Weiss let her glyph drop, and shook Arthur’s hand.
