Summary
Mizuki may have betrayed all of Konoha, but his betrayal cuts Iruka the deepest, literally. The chunin's life begins to head to a dark place as he copes in self-destructive ways. His friends convince him he needs help. That help comes in the form of therapy and a jounin he can't help but fall for. Feelings complicate things, especially since the jounin is already with someone else. Can Iruka pick up the pieces of his shattered heart and learn to trust again?

Well, one person, that is. Ever since Kakashi Hatake became Hokage, no one was willing to stand in the way of his husband, Iruka. It was well known amongst the ANBU ranks that if you saw the angry chunin, the best thing was to get out of his way. The Hokage deserved whatever tongue lashing was coming.

Summary
Konoha was founded on the principle of peace, an odd thing for a village of shinobi. The peace forged between the Senju and Uchiha clans was kept alive and renewed every generation through the symbolic coming together of the two clans in the form of an arraigned marriage. Madara and Tobirama had been the first. Since then, the clan elders came together once every thirty years to select a candidate from each of their clans to continue on the tradition. Now, Iruka and Kakashi have been chosen to continue the tradition.

They got along alright, especially since he was out of the village so much on ANBU missions, but the twelve-year-old had recently lost it.
