My headcanon is Mycroft had alterior motives for his actions in The Lying Detective. In true Mycroft fashion he doesn't tell anyone who doesn't need to know. Well, sometimes keeping secrets isn't the best idea.

After watching Skyfall at my friend's suggestion I fell in love with this ship. Then I watched Spectre and after yelling at Bond for driving off in the Aston I decided to fix the ending. Also I'm bad with titles, sorry.

Summary
Wriothesley decides that the boldest way to confess his feelings to Neuvillette, the only Alpha to have the Duke's trust, is to invite him into his nest to tend to the Omega for the first unsuppressed heat he's had in years.
There's only a slight problem.
Neuvillette is not an Alpha.

The Dragon Slayer's Guide to Dragon Breeding by Maleficar

Summary
“But you must go. You must. I am not—” The dragon groans.
“You’re sending mixed messages,” Wriothesley says, closing his eyes, tipping back his head, and trying very hard not to put his hands on the dragon’s hips to pull him closer still. For fuck’s sake, what is it with him and beautiful, dangerous men? “Can’t go if I can’t run. Can’t do any of that if you keep doing this.”
The dragon whines in the back of his throat, mouthing the underside of Wriothesley’s jaw. “You must bind me,” he says. “And then walk—walk—out. Otherwise, my instincts… my desires…” He shudders. “I will want to chase you. Bring you back here.”
When the Lady of Merusea asks Wriothesley to help with the local dragon, he expects the dragon will need a good slaying, not a good breeding.

Summary
“Monsieur Chief Justice,” Wriothesley says, not sure if he wants to laugh or walk straight into the sea. “Are you unfamiliar with floriography?”
Returning to his dockets, Neuvillette says, “I understand it is a passing trend among the young people of Fontaine, but I have never given it much of my own regard.”
Wriothesley chokes. Half of Fontainian society communicates via the unspoken language of flowers, using bouquets to augment or even subvert their messages. “I wouldn’t call it a passing trend,” Wriothesley manages, strangled.
Wriothesley teaches Neuvillette the subtle political art of floriography, and Neuvillette takes the opportunity to communicate more privately with the Duke.

Summary
Neuvillette knows little of what it means to be a dragon; he has spent his entire life among the people of Fontaine. Everything he does know about dragons, he has uncovered himself through trial and error and the occasional bit of obscure research. But this, at least, he recognizes.
Mating instincts.
By protecting him, the duke is behaving like a dragon seeking a mate, and that has triggered Neuvillette’s own instincts to judge the duke’s adequacy.
When Wriothesley begins acting like a dragon courting his mate, Neuvillette finds himself torn between duty and desire.

Summary
"I want to taste you, Wriothesley. Please.”
And what of me? If I want you just as much?” Wriothesley asks against the shell of Neuvillette’s ear, lips brushing over the pointed tip.
Neuvillette rocks against the heel of Wriothesley’s palm, his length achingly hard. Those fingers tease over the edges of his vent, all slick skin and heat.
“An impasse.” A growl laces Neuvillette’s words. Wriothesley laughs softly. So often do they find themselves so overcome with hunger that they take what they can, uncoordinated and fumbling, but tonight…tonight holds the promise of more.
- After weeks of work keeping them apart, Neuvillette and Wriothesley turn to new methods of pleasure, starved for touch and release.
